Uber CEO Wants Tesla Partnership for Robotaxi? What it Means for TSLA

In what would certainly be a surprising turn of events, Uber (UBER) CEO Dara Khorsorwshahi is reportedly open to a Tesla (TSLA) partnership for the incoming Robotaxi development. Moreover, Khorosorwashi noted that he would “love” to work alongside Elon Musk for the project.

Speaking to the Financial Times, the Uber head said it was increasingly difficult to compete with Musk’s automobile manufacturer. Therefore, he expressed interest in a collaboration. The ride courier service would offer Tesla’s Robotaxi, in what would be a massive move for TSLA stock.

Uber and Tesla to Work Together? Why It Could be Massive for TSLA Stock

Tesla has long been one of the titans in the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing sector. Yet, its star has been fading in recent weeks. Specifically, the underwhelming arrival of its Robotaxi debut did not aid the TSLA stock. Moreover, it pushed Uber technologies upward, as the competition between the two firms grew stronger.

Yet, in a recent interview, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said he was open to a Tesla partnership. He discussed the difficulty in competing with Musk directly. Therefore, he noted that an optimal outcome could be their collaboration for the betterment of the Robotaxi and the industry.

“Obviously, competing with Elon Musk is no easy matter, and we take nothing for granted; we really want to partner with the autonomous industry,” the Uber head told the publication. Indeed, the stance comes from the three points of intersection that the company can have with Musk’s Tesla.

According to Khosrowshahi, Uber can either compete with Tesla, work alongside the firm to add Robotoxai’s autonomous Features to the ride-sharing network or do a combination of the two. However, he ultimately said it is “up to what Tesla does,” regarding cooperation.

“We’d love to have it on the platform, but if not, I don’t think this is going to be a winner-take-all marketplace. We believe in the spirit of partnership; we’ll see what Tesla does,” he added. Although TSLA had a stark decline following the event, it is up almost 1% on Monday. Conversely, Uber has dropped almost 2% to start the week.

It is clear that Uber’s Khorsrowshahi believes partnerships could have both UBER and TSLA surging. That would be especially true I the integration thrives. Specifically, the EV manufacturer could be set for a rapid turnaround from recent declines if the collaboration comes to fruition.
